US Weekly - Suitable for A Seven-Year-Old?

We got my daughter Kay a subscription to US Weekly for her seventh birthday.

She loves US Weekly.

She taught herself to read with US Weekly, which makes sense because it's probably written for a second-grade reading level, and I'm not even joking.

But a few recent headlines in the magazine have made me wonder, is seven too young to be reading US Weekly?

And if I have to swap her subscription, what magazines do you recommend?

Disclosure: Totally not compensated in case it looks like I was, I don't even like US Weekly. Except of course, the Fashion Police section, which I kinda sorta love.

I used to let my daughters read it... Then Brad Pitt outted the Tooth Fairy in an article, and that ended that.

@Melissa I never even thought of that side of it - that's terrible! Maybe I better start reading the issue first, y'know for the sake of the kids...

Anything for the kids! I should have also stated my daughter was 10-- but still, I didn't appreciate Mr Pitt. ;)

I don't read US much, but what about one of the more kid friendly entertainment related Nickelodeon or Disney Channel magazines? They are kind of like a safe "Teen Beat" kind of mags that feature the kids stars on those cable tv channels and Radio Disney. My 9 year old loves them (and there is nothing inappropriate or Tooth Fairy/Santa related) --Lisa

Those magazines are hard to resist, aren't they? Kids are getting drawn into them younger and younger. The only reason I cringe with my stepdaughter (when she was younger) was that I didn't want her to have body image issues. But I know, you can't keep them on Highlights and Cricket forever. She's 12 now and she still enjoys the NatGeo mags. Good luck!

If you like fashion police, then you MUST know about Tom and Lorenzo, right? tomandlorenzo.com? Funniest, bitchiest, cleverest...am addicted. Last week they describe Johnny Depp's fashion sense as "elderly gay windchime." I'm going to be laughing about that for years.
